Vocabulary

Expect (v): 1- to think or believe something will happen, or someone will arrive:
E.g.: We are expecting a lot of applicants for the job.
E.g.: I expect (that) you’ll find it somewhere in your bedroom.
E.g.: I expect (that) he’d have left anyway.
E.g.: He didn’t expect to see me.

Expectation (n): 1- the feeling that good things are going to happen in the future:
E.g.: The holiday lived up to all our expectations (= was as good as we were expecting).
E.g.: I have high expectations for this job (= I believe it will be good).
E.g.: We did so well – beyond all (= better than) our expectations.

Curious (adj): 1- interested in learning about people or things around you.
E.g.: I was curious to know what would happen next.
E.g.: Babies are curious about everything around them.
E.g.: “Why did you ask?” “I was just curious.”

Plateau (n): 1- a large flat area of land that is high above sea level. 2- 高原 (plural: Plateaux)
E.g.: The Grand Canyon is a large, beautiful area in Arizona, full of cliffs, canyons, and plateaux.
E.g.: Brasilia, the capital of Brazil is located on the country’s Central Plateau.

Plateau (v): 1- to reach a particular level and then stay the same:
E.g.: I’d been losing about a kilogram a week on my diet, but recently I’ve plateaued and haven’t lost anything.
E.g.: The economic slowdown has caused our sales to plateau.

Grammar

I resigned my job. – I resigned from my job. 

For my new job I am feeling expected. – I have high expectations for my new job.
