Q: What are your thoughts about Chinese weddings?
A:  It’s a tradition from a long time ago.

She would never be a family member of her original one.
She would never be her mother’s daughter anymore/a part of her original family…

My parents don’t emphasize too much on the dowry.
… don’t care for the dowry.

They’ve got married…
After they got married..
They have gotten married already

as you think, there’s a longer way for me to go
as you know,/would expect, there’s a longer road ahead.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: 5 years seems like a long time, but it can also be very short. If you keep still, you just be what you are right now in 5 years. But I’m sure, I will turn out to be a different me in 5 years. Let’s talk about jobs first. After 5 years, I will still be an Eng teacher. The different thing is I’ll have more experience and I am collecting those experiences and turning them into a book. I will share my teaching knowledge to other inexperienced teachers, share them with my colleagues, because from my own experience, teaching seems to be a hard job. A new teacher can learn not only from her own exp but also from other teachers. And I can provide my own experience and methods to help them learn better. Probably I’ll not stay in SH always, I will travel to some poor areas and teach the students there, because the inequality in teaching is still a very serious problem in China and teachers in rural areas don’t have easy access to the newest knowledge. So I, after gaining so much exp in a first-tier city, will go back to the rural cities and train the teachers there, because I want to help more students.

A: 5 years seems like a long time, but it can also be very short. If you remain stagnant/stay in the same place, you will be where you are right now/who you are right now/ yourself right now in 5 years. But I’m sure I will turn out to be a different me in 5 years. Let’s talk about my professional life first. After 5 years, I will still be an Eng teacher. The new development is I’ll have more experience. Currently, I am collecting those experiences and putting them into a future book. I will share my teaching knowledge to other inexperienced teachers, share them with my colleagues, because from my own experience, teaching is an incredibly complex/difficult job. A new teacher can learn not only from her own exp but also from the exp of others. And I hope to help them with my own exp, wherever I can. Probably I would not stay in SH forever and always, I plan to travel to some poor/rural/remote areas and teach the students there, because the inequality in education is still a very serious problem in China and teachers in rural areas don’t have easy access to the newest knowledge. So even though my power is limited, I want to do what I can. After I gain enough exp in a first-tier city, will go to the rural cities and train the teachers there, because I want to help/reach more students.
