substantial (adj): 1- large in size, value, or importance:
E.g.: He took a substantial amount of money.

follow something up (v): 1-to find out more about something, or take more action connected with it:
E.g.: The idea sounded interesting and I decided to follow it up.
E.g.: He decided to follow up on his initial research and write a book.
