Vocabulary

Turn vs. Roll – turn is usually when something is standing or is flat; roll is for something laying down, or something round
e.g. A ball rolls on the ground.
e.g. A person rolls over in bed.
e.g. A person turns left after leaving SmartEnglish to go to the Metro.

Potato Chips – like 乐事 makes, 薯片, salty, fried potatoes
e.g. Americans love to eat chips.

Habit – something you do often; something you are used to doing 习惯
e.g. I have the habit of getting up at 7:30 am.
e.g. My habit is to go to the gym every day at 5 pm.

Fear – (verb) to be afraid of something; (noun) what you are afraid of  恐惧
e.g. I fear spiders (verb).
e.g. My greatest fear is spiders (noun).

Slow – 慢

Spider - 蜘蛛

Snake - 蛇

Law - 法律

Have vs. Get – have is about now; get is about change
e.g. I went to Starbucks to get a coffee (I didn’t have one, so I went there to get one; this is a change).
— This is similar to the use of 了
e.g. 我有一杯咖啡 or 我有咖啡了

Grammar

“Used to” is used to talk about things that you did often in the past, but that you do not do now.
e.g. When I was a kid, I used to eat potato chips every day.

How much time do you spend . . . [time] . . . [doing what]
e.g. How much time do you spend [each week] [reading in Chinese]?
e.g. How much time do you spend [each month] [exercising]?

When alarm goes off at 5:30AM every morning, My husband can get up very quickly, I would also wake up, but I always turn it off and turn over to sleep again until 7:30 to get up. Usually I used to get dressed quickly, because i afraid have a cold. We have a maid to do the housework every day, so I only have to make the bed and I have often cook my breakfast. I brush my teeth and wash my face before i eat breakfast.when i finish to put on make up, I leave the house to catch the bus, usually I go to the office every other day and go to class twice a week.
