Homework
Write about your trip to Hangzhou, and try to use “have” or “had” in your story, but be careful not to confuse it with the simple past (have eaten vs. ate).

Rehabilitation vs. Therapy
— Rehabilitation is what you do and your progress getting better.
e.g. My rehabilitation is going well.
e.g. My rehabilitation consists of eating well, exercising, and resting.
— Therapy is only what you do to get better.
e.g. I begin post-surgery therapy today, which will include special exercises.
Upside-down – boca abajo
Electric current – corriente eléctrica
Electrical Stimulation Therapy / Electrotherapy – terapia de estimulación eléctrica / electroterapia – the use of electricity to stimulate specific muscles for strengthening and rehabilitation
Vino la luz – The lights came back on
Bite – also used for what a mosquito does
Scratch – to use your nails to satisfy an itch
Itch – when you want to scratch
Fashionable – de moda
Rip – to pull the fabric of something apart
e.g. I ripped the sleeves off of my shirt so it would look cool.
e.g. My jeans got caught on a nail and it ripped a hole.
Nail – both clavo and uña
Flowing – something which is moving smoothly
Fluent – something which moves easily, or a language that you can speak without too much effort
Trainer / Coach – usually 1-on-1 / for a team
Grammar
Numbers:
English has three “basic numbers” like in Spanish
One, ten, hundred
Then, these are grouped into larger numbers and repeat:
One thousand, Ten thousand, Hundred Thousand
The groups are: thousand, million, billion, trillion, quadrillion, etc.
This is a little different from Spanish, which repeats “mil”:
Uno, diez, cien
Mil, Millón, mil-millones, billón, mil-billones, etc.
Chinese is similar, but starts with four “basic numbers”
一,十,百,千
Then the groups are:
万,亿,兆,京 (wan4, yi4, zhao4, jing1)

Pronunciation
Strengthening – streng – then – ing
“How have you been” (¿Cómo has estado?) – how’ve you been
