How have you been? (This question is about past until now, so do not use it for the first time you meet someone) (asking about the last time you saw someone until now) I’ve been good, busy, tired.

What are you doing? Zuo shenme

Q: So, you don’t work today?

A: No, I don’t work today. No, I do work today.

Q: So you work today?

A: Yes I do./ No I don’t

Institute – “The science institute of China is making many modern advances.”

Get something off the ground – Literal eg: “To pick something up.” Idiom( figurative) eg: “To start a business or project.”

Literature – books for stories or art eg: “Russian literature is often very complex and psychological.” “Sun Tzu’s The Art of War was part literature, part textbook.”

textbook – study book used in schools or for training eg: “His plan was a textbook example of how to succeed.” (using his plan as a model or study materials)                   “His textbooks cost over 500 yuan this year.”

Cut Corners – eg: to take shortcuts to save money or make it easier “They wanted the highest quality, so they didn’t cut any corners.”

Call it a day – to finish working or doing something for today eg: “we’ve been working for 12 hours, let’s cal it a day and resume tomorrow.”
