“Never, never give up” is a famous quotation that people use to inspire others. This quotation gives people seeking words of wisdom the energy to keep trying and working, but people with sufficient self-knowledge would know when they should give up. By recognising there are certain undeniable advantages to giving up, these wiser people save time, and live pleasantly/complacently in their comfort zones.

The first and most prominent/basic benefit to giving up is saving valuable/priceless time and effort. People have various goals in their entire lives – some people want to be millionaires while some people desire to be scientists. Unfortunately, most of them don’t accomplish their goal in the end because their natural talent and capabilities are too limited to reach such high aims. In other words, they don’t have a clear image about themselves. Without self-knowledge, people would have a list of goals that they are unable to achieve, and waste their whole lives on these unattainable objectives. Some people believe they’re born to be professional basketball players. They drop out of school and spend all their days training to play basketball. Unfortunately, they are not very gifted for basketball but they aren’t aware of the truth. They refuse to give up during their training period, and as a result, they waste many years and gain nothing. In this aspect/way/from this aspect, giving up is a better option for these people though it’s shameful.

Giving up might be shameful but at the same time, extremely comfortable. It keeps people staying in their comfort zone and avoiding unnecessary risks. People only live once, so they should enjoy their colorful lives instead of addicted in some boring and tedious activities. These activities might be helpful but they are less interesting than game consoles. With exciting games, people can lead enjoyable lives instead of harsh torment.

“Never give up” is supposedly a good soul chicken soup for people who are suffering, probably invented by the rich and powerful who wants to take advantage. Now it has become an excuse for the company to exploit employees. Employers brainwash their staff with this quotation. They try to emphasize the importance of “never give up”, and persuade employees work harder and harder. Therefore, they can prolong work time and ask employees work overtime voluntarily.

Although “never give up” is inspiring and energetic, giving up is also a choice of people’s lives. It saves people’s time from meaningless thing, and keeps people in comfort zone. What is wrong with staying comfortable? Contrary to popular belief/common perception, giving up doesn’t equal to becoming losers/failing in life/getting a C in life. People make lots of wrong decisions in their lives and some of these decision they may end up living with for a long time. Giving up is also an opportunity to correct those wrong decisions and restart a brand new life.
