present simple vs. present continuous 

when talking about routine 当谈论日常常规的时候 -> use present simple tense 使用一般现在时
signal words: usually, often, mostly, normally

when talking about exceptions 当谈论特殊情况的时候 -> use present continuous tense 使用现在进行时
signal words: today, tonight, this ….  

present simple – 一般现在时
S + verb. + O 
i.e. I like chocolate.
i.e. He likes chocolate.
i.e. I do my homework.

present continous – 现在进行时
S + am/is/are + verb.ing + O
i.e. I am doing my homework.
i.e. I am eating chocolate.
