The rapid development of technology, especially in recent years, has brought convenience and pleasure/enjoyment to our daily lives. Some people use science to improve our standard of living/living standards but others would like to explore science to cultivate/broaden their own horizons./ The aim of science/meaning behind this development of science is a topic/subject of debate/controversy. However, undoubtedly, the first and foremost/most important objective/goal of science is to improve people’s daily lives. /The utmost importance of science lies in its capability to improve people’s lives.

Throughout history, our civilization has encountered countless problems that cannot be solved without science. In the time of our ancestors, there were very few tools, methods, and entertainment available, so people lives were very boring and inconvenient. Recent technologies like the internet helped people to live better, more convenient lives. Nowadays, via the internet, people can communicate with each other … These changes greatly improved our standards of living.

Although exploring the scientific world for one’s own interest is meaningful, it is not as meaningful as advancing our civilization. In the future, our govt should strengthen/play a more important role in supervising and encouraging …

INTRO:

The objective of education as been a topic of debate, especially in recent years. Some university students want to learn about other subjects in addition to their main courses, while others would like to devote all their time and effort into earning a qualification/becoming qualified. However, even though qualifications and certificates are important, the ultimate aim of education is to help each student cultivate their own interests and passions./broaden their horizons.

R1: Students who are allowed to pursue the subjects they’re interested in tend to perform better in school.
– interest as motivation/drive
– gain comprehensive knowledge/understanding of the world -> incomplete set of knowledge for main courses
– ex)

R1: do better in school
– interest as motivation – for main courses as well
ex) choose more different subjects -> stay focused and interested
ex) law students – all law classes – lose interest, focus, be tired
– many believe that only focusing on main courses is better -> waste time on useless courses
