Vocabulary

scooter / electric bike: 电动车
street pillar: 障碍物
alighted: 下车

I was the only one who got hurt because I was sitting on the scooter with my legs apart. My friend was really sorry but it was an accident and we’re still friends.

culture [n] 文化 a custom or a tradition, something that has happened for a very long time and is typical of a certain group of people.

example: qipao, celebrating Mid Autumn Festival and Chinese new year

norm [n] 规范 something that happens normally

example: When you sit in a car, you exit from the right-hand side. We use chopsticks when eating. Squat. Staying to the right on escalators. Drink hot water only.

It is the norm to get married early, especially for young people who live in second or third-tier cities.
It is Chinese culture to carry on the family name by having children and grandchildren.

Rules & Laws: Not crossing when there is a red light (jaywalking), no stealing, no kidnapping.
