Vocabulary

call in – call to tell them you can’t come

eg: She called in sick today.

pick

eg: There are four dresses, you can pick one. Then you can pick it up next week. Because we need to alter the dress to fit you better.

picky – a person who only likes some things, they don’t like most things

eg: I’m very picky about ice cream, I only like Mint Chocolate Chip. That green ice cream with chocolate pieces in it.

eg: I’m not picky about fruit, I will eat anything.

alter – change

eg: I altered my pants, just cut them to make them into shorts.

stomach – an organ in your body that processes food

stomachache / upset stomach – pain in your stomach / stomach doesn’t feel good.

eg: I didn’t ear and got a stomachache.

ache – a kind of pain

eg: My arm aches.

eg: I have a headache.

eg: My back aches from working all day.

technique – the way you do something

eg: I don’t know the right technique for lifting weights.

pushy – a person who will push you to do things that you don’t want to do

eg: The trainers are really pushy, they always want you to buy more classes.

Sponge – an animal that lives in the sea, people used to get them to clean things, now we use fake Sponges.

eG: Spongebob Squarepants is a really funny show. He looks like a kitchen sponge but he lives with other sea animals.
