get off – to finish working, finish your shift

eg: I got off work at 5:30 in the afternoon.

eg: I had to work 30 minutes overtime.

eg: I usually finish work at 5 in the afternoon.

get out – to be released from a place or thing

eg: My son gets out of school at 4.

eg: My husband gets out of prison in 2 years.

get out of (doing something, a situation) – 1. you agreed to this, or you must do this, but you will try to NOT do this, or NOT be in that situation.

eg: They asked me to work overtime tomorrow. I said yes, but I changed my mind. Now I need to get out of working overtime tomorrow.

eg: I have to go to my cousins’s wedding next week, but I wanna get out of it. It’s gonna be so boring.

eg: My professor asked me to have a meeting tomorrow. I said yes, but now I need to get out of it.

eg: I need to get out of my meeting with the professor tomorrow.

eg: I need to get out of class. (1. leave the room)      I need to get out of class. (cancel, before it starts)

cousin – your Aunt or Uncle’s children

eg: I have 200 cousins.

cancel – to stop doing something or to decide that something will not happen

eg: Sorry, we have to cancel class today.

eg: They cancelled my flight, I need to find a new one.

eg: My flight was cancelled, so I had to find a new one.

scan V. N.  scanner N. – to make an image by using technology to analyze the image surface.

eg: I need to scan my head. I will get a CT scan of my head this afternoon. The CT scanner is a really expensive machine.
