Writing exercise

Background information for my next class:
My friends talked about their plans for buying an apartment on mortgage in Shanghai when we had dinner last weekend. One of them is a neurologist and her husband is an orthopedist who got his PhD degree and first job only half a year ago. She worked in a Minhang district hospital and her husband worked in Zabei district that it takes him about one hour to go to work by subway. They had their first child last year. Their current monthly household income is about 30,000 yuan and the rent is 6,000 yuan. They wanna buy an apartment, but the house price seems soaring up without limit. The average house price is more than 80,000 yuan per square meter and they cannot afford this large sum of money .They have to ask their parents who were retired and only can support themselves for help. They are eager to have an apartment, even a secondhand one.
1. Do you think that they have the capability to buy a new apartment?
2. Do you think that it’s important to buy school district houses?
3. Do you think whether it’s a good idea to ask their parents for money?
4. If your parents sell their house in order to help you to buy your new apartment, would you like to live with them?
5. Do you think that the house price is reasonable in Shanghai? Would you like to be a mortgage slave?

Answers:

1. I think anyone has the capability to buy a new one, if they move far enough out of the city.

2. Yeah, I think most people make their decision based on this.

3. I think it depends on their family. If their parents are poor, they shouldn’t ask for help.

4. I would advise them to not sell their house. And I can buy the apartment without their help.

5. No, I don’t think it’s reasonable. It’s overpriced for a relatively low quality apartment.
