a pushover – 1. someone who will listen to or do anything that other people tell them to do 2. a person who can be persuaded easily

eg: I want to stop being a pushover.

be bullied – someone treats you badly

eg: My friend said I’m easily bullied.

bully someone – treat someone badly

eg: My chief is a bully. He bullies me and a lot of other doctors. He’s quite unprofessional.

eg: He can’t bully the doctors who have connections.

have connections – guanxi, a strong position in society with many powerful people who can help you.

eg: In China, sometimes you really need to have connections.

vital – you need it to live

eg: Air, is vital to almost all animals.

stranded – when you are left in a place, all alone.

eg: After his car broke down, he was stranded in the desert. He had to walk 50 miles to the city.

eg: Our boat crashed, now we are stranded on this small island.

eg: I want to be stranded on that island. It looks so nice.

deteriorate1. to make or become worse or inferior in character, quality, value, etc. 2. to disintegrate or wear away.

1. eg: His health was deteriorating after he retired.

2. eg: This desk is deteriorating, because my wife left it outside in the rain.

letter – part of language, used to make words.

eg: CAT.  Has three letters. The letter C, the letter A, and the letter T.
