We were always taught to be honest when we were children. However, growth process is also the process of worldview and values reconstruction, we will make different decisions at different age even for the same thing. There are many white lies in our daily life, and it seems like a reasonable excuse to tell lies. Of course, white lies can reduce hurt and embarrassment in sometimes. For example, we always use another appointment as an excuse instead of just saying no when we want to refuse an invitation. That is acceptable for both sides. But, I think we should keep the basic ethical bottom line when we want to tell some lies. For children, I think we should keep teaching them to be honest, because their thinking and worldview still need to be constructing, and it is very hard to distinguish what is white lies and what is unacceptable lies. Everyone should learn how to keep honest before learning how to tell a white lie.
