conflict: a disagreement which can lead to violence争端/战斗
I wanted to use the time machine to go the past but my parents wanted to use it to go to the future so we had a conflict. (争端)

standard: a value for reference / a level you use to compare to other things 水平/标准
Shanghai (probably) has a better living standard than Wulumuqi.
This factory follows high-quality standards.

Grammar

conditional:

1. First conditional: situation is possible in the present or future
If I have enough money, I will go to Japan.

2. Second conditional: improbable situations in the present
If I had enough money, I would go to Japan.

3. Third conditional: impossible situations in the past
(in 2010) If I had had enough money, I would have gone to Japan.

Practice :

1st conditional:
If I do a good job in the exam my parents will be happy.
If they are happy they will give me a gift.
If they give me a gift I will work hard to receive more gifts
If I get more gifts, my room will be too small
If my room is too small I will ask my parents for a big room.
If I ask for a big room they will tell me to study harder
If they tell me to study harder I will be unhappy.

If they had talked to my parents, my parents would have sold the headphones.
