VIP Class Notes (Tibo) [S]

Today we focused on:

Discussed the importance of languages and AI in the future

Speaking exercise

I don’t think Shanghainese / the Shanghai dialect is a language
For some companies if you don’t speak English you cannot get the offer.

I feel English will become very popular in China and under this situation if you work in Japanese company maybe you need to be trilingual
China is close to Japan and currently there are many Japanese companies in China so for this companies they need people can speak Japanese.
these countries most of people can speak English

you mean when people speaking you got some tools help you translate at the same time.
I still think language skills is very important.
Last time when I had a meeting with Spanish I am afraid I cant understand so before the meeting I opened the translator to try to translate at the same time when they were talking but the result was bad because they had a Spanish accent

I feel my listening was better than the app.
I tried to understand their speaking and I get most of the meaning because I knew the topic and I can guess what they were talking about.

a part of the reason is because they are good at English

For our company, our team is the office center of Asia pacific. We are going to take the job from Korea and Japan and we need to communicate with store colleagues so we need people can speak both Korean and Japanese.
In this case we need people can speak English , Chinese, Korean and Japanese. It is so hard to find people. If we just communicate with office people we just speak English it is enough but if we need to communicate with store colleagues it is hard for us. some of the Chinese who lived close to north of Korea they can speak Korean so we can find trilingual people but it is hard to find quad lingual people.

If your major is languages maybe you can speak several languages but we need to find people of the major is accountant.

if you want to be a key person you need to know both of the system and the accounting rules. So for key persons it will be hard because you need to know not only accounting but also system but if you are just a normal accountant maybe you don’t know very much about accounting you can also work on basic tasks. You just do day to day books. but you are easy to be replaced.

Maybe the jobs will not disappear but we just need less people.
For recent years a lot of supermarkets began to use check out machine / self check out. so they need less people than before but maybe after 20 years they just need 1.
Because currently there are still people cannot use machines but in the future it won’t be a problem.
