There are 2 top companies in e-commerce .
The top one is absolutely Alibaba and another one is JD. But Ali has a longer history in E-commerce. They have different positions in this industry. At first Ali is just a platform for private companies and those companies can sell their products on this platform, later Ali create the Tianmao, the Tianmao is owned by Ali they sell products. They have their products and Ali is running this platform, Ali is a platform for private company but tianmao is owned by Ali.

JD is also a platform but it major business is self owned and it uses less third parties.

Ali has stronger network in China. they have different level products for different kind consumers.
But most of JD;s business is to target high level people compared to Ali and JD has their supplying chain.

If I look at the numbers I think Ali is better than JD because Jack Ma has a high understanding of this market and he can see the opportunities and Ali has bigger strategy than JD. JD just has their e-commerce business but Ali has Alibaba / alipay and ali collaborates with other companies and develops other business.

They have different positions/ positioning in this industry. At first Ali was just a platform for private companies to sell their products.

Later Ali created/launched Tianmao, Tmall is fully owned by Ali. they sell many products.
They have their ow products and Ali is running this platform on their own.
Ali is a platform opened to third parties but Tmall is not.

JD is also a platform but it’s major business is self owned and it uses less third parties.

Ali has a stronger network in China. they have different levels of products for different kind consumers. / Ali offers more variety of products for all kinds of consumers.
But most of JD’s business targets high income people / compared to Ali which targets the whole spectrum

If I look at the numbers I think Ali is doing/performing better than JD because Jack Ma has a high understanding of this market and he can see opportunities and Ali has a strategy with more layers than JD.
JD only operates in e-commerce but Ali is more diversified.
They run taobao / alipay and ali  also collaborates with other companies and develops other businesses.

What do you think are the strengths of ali and JD?

I work as an analyst in a consulting company. This company works for pharmaceutical industry so you know consultant is required a very high level English skill because we need to write the report in English and present it to our client and most of our clients are multiple national companies so most of them are foreigners we need to communicate in English that is why I am here and I have about 2 months classes.
We need to use very professional language in the report but I cant handle this I always use very simple words and sometimes I make some grammar mistakes in writing and the biggest problem I think is the pronunciation and presentation. But from this level I am in I don’t need to present the report to clients, I just need to write. We have a lot of kinds of projects in relation to market access, pricing in pharmaceutical industry we need to do some drug research. My major work is to conduct interview with KOLs and get their ideas about a new product and consolidates these findings in reports and do a lot of research about the drugs pipeline about the competitors situation etc.
