Talking about the D&G case, did the handle the crisis properly, what could they have done better?

Several days before it came out we have a similar case in our company.

We posted a map of China and we missed Taiwan and HK and somebody find it and he called us told us to apologize in public or he will tell this issue to the media. Several days after it happened the D&G thing happened. So all the managers are quite nervous, they don’t know what will be the result.

Finally we will have a 2nd round negotiation with him to see if we can find a solution in the middle.

I think the problem is not the advertisement but the message Gabana posted on social media.
The ad looks quite weird. I’m not comfortable to see the ad. I think the message bring so much anger from Chinese people because his comment.

A girl posted her conversation with Gavana on her Facebook and during the talk he used bad words to talk about China.
I have a feeling of being offended.  A couple hours after the issue our com department made a ppt to tell our HQ about it.

It must take a long time. I remember 2 years ago there was a boycott on Korea things. and at the moment Chinese people they were angry and they would not buy Korea products anymore. But with the time passed Korea is still one of the most popular places people chose to visit during the holidays.

I feel its different from people from other Asia countries. I think Chinese people about this kind of issue the influence will not last for a long time in China.

The main issue is that as Chinese people we don’t trust our products. We think about the copies, the fake, We dont believe we will have good qualities. A label of a European country gives us a premium feeling.

In Taobao there are many clothes that are selling clothes at cheap price. They copy the design of the famous brands and the mass produce to get lower price, In the meantime they cooperate with KOL to promote their products.

The terms that taobao is offering are not attractive anymore. The key of opening taobao is to gain traffic but now you need to pay taobao and the investment is huge. You have to join the promotions offered otherwise you can get nothing.
Some of our young brands, the awareness is low compared to Zara and we can’t get the right traffic even if we pay a lot.
They have different promotion tools, one choice is that the ad of your shop will pop up at the front page of taobao, Another option is that when people search something you will come at the top. All of that need money,
