Vocabulary


Psychology:
The scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.
ex: I like Psychology more than Sociology.
Sociology: The study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society.
ex: I have a book abut sociology but I have not read it.
Interdisciplinary: More than one discipline; astro-physics, Social-Psychology.
ex: I want to study interdisciplinary topics.
Spontaneous: Happened without anything to start it.
ex: The dog looked at me and barked loudly.
Drift: slowly move into or out of.
ex: Does your mind often drift off and daydream when you are working?
thinks highly: Thinks very good things.
ex: My boss thinks highly of me.
Whim: a sudden change of mind especially when it is unusual or unexplained.
ex: I decided to try this new restaurant on a whim.
Sidetracked: distracted.
ex: Sorry, I was on my way to the gym when I got side-tracked by the jewelry store!
Contemplate: to think about.
ex: She asked me what kind of ice cream I wanted to eat. I didn’t have to contemplate, vanilla.
