We reviewed some past vocabulary and focused on grammar with writing and speaking.

Committed (n): 1- very willing to give your time and energy to something.
E.g.: Sandy is very committed to finishing her work on time.
E.g.: Raph is very committed to helping Sandy improve her English
E.g.: Sandy is very committed to studying as hard as she can.

Vocabulary

Impression (n): 1- an idea or opinion of what something or someone is like:
E.g.: I didn’t get much of an impression of the place because it was dark when we drove through it.
E.g.: What was your impression of Charlotte’s husband?
E.g.: I don’t tend to trust first impressions (= the opinion you form when you meet someone or see something for the first time).
E.g.: When I first met him I got/had the impression that he was a shy sort of person.

Impression (n): 1- effect or influence on the way someone feels or thinks.
E.g.: Her Math teacher in 1st grade made a huge impression on her education.
E.g.: All our warnings made little impression on him.

Timing (n): 1- the ability to choose the right moment to do or say something, or the time when something happens.
E.g.: The difference between a joke told well and a joke told badly is the timing.
E.g.: “Are we too early?” “No, your timing is perfect – dinner is almost ready.”
E.g.: The bomb contained a timing device set to make it go off at rush hour.

Strike (v/n): 1- to refuse to continue working because of an argument with an employer about working conditions, pay levels, or job losses.
E.g.: We’re striking for better pay and improved safety standards.
E.g.: The timing of the airline strike was bad for our vacation plans.

Ideal (adj): 1- perfect, or the best possible:
E.g.: What do you think would be the ideal job for you?
E.g.: She’s the ideal person (= exactly the right type of person) for the job.
E.g.: It’s the ideal opportunity to meet people.

Ancient (adj): 1- of or from a long time ago, having lasted for a very long time:
E.g.: ancient civilizations/rights/laws
E.g.: Ancient China.
E.g.: The ancient kingdoms of Mexico
E.g.: People have lived in this valley since ancient times.

Lunar (adj): 1- 太阴

Do you know the story about the Middle Autumn Festival? In Chinese History there are two people who are like boyfriend and girlfriend. They have live in two places and they just meet once a year. So they decided to meet in September, so at that day they can meet. This story happened in Old History, so in mid autumn festival the people eat mooncake now, and we have three vacation.

Do you know the story/legend behind the Middle Autumn Festival? There is a traditional Chinese story about two people who were boyfriend and girlfriend / about a couple. According the story, they had to live in different places and just met once a year, in September. This is an ancient story, and now we celebrate Mid Autumn Festival by eating mooncakes, and we have three days off work.
