All-White Giant Panda Caught On Camera For The First Time

With fewer than 2,000 giant pandas left in the wild, the sighting of one of the cuddly animals is a cause for celebration. However, the one recently spotted trampling through a bamboo forest in China’s Sichuan Province is even more so given that it is the world’s first known albino panda!

The all-white cub with reddish eyes was captured by acamera set up to monitor the wildlife in the Wolong National Nature Reserve, a protected area which is also home to China’s first giant panda breeding and research center. Wolong officials, who announced the discovery of the ghost-like panda bear on May 25, 2019, said that the photo happened in a forested area about 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) above sea level. They say the mammal is between one and two years old.
