Vocabulary

Abusive (adj): 1- treating someone badly or cruelly.
E.g.: He was a very strict parent, but never abusive.
E.g.: She was in an abusive relationship for a long time, but thankfully she managed to get out.

Red flag (n): 1- a warning sign. Something that shows that there is something wrong happening.
E.g.: His behavior was a big red flag for me, and I knew that there was something going on.
E.g.: Jealousy for me is a major red flag for abusive relationships.

Acquaintance (n): 1- a person that you have met but do not know well.
E.g.: We are business acquaintances.
E.g.: I recently met an old work acquaintance of mine and I didn’t recognize him.

Stress (n): 1- great worry caused by a difficult situation, or something that causes this condition. 2- 强调
E.g.: People under a lot of stress may experience headaches, body aches, and sleeping difficulties.
E.g.: Yoga is a very good fighting stress.
E.g.: Her work causes a lot of stress, so she tries to take a few days off every once in a while.
E.g.: He uses meditation (冥想) as a way of reducing stress.
