Vocabulary

Alert (n): 1- a warning to people to be prepared to deal with something dangerous. 2- to warn someone of a possibly dangerous situation:
E.g.: There was a bomb alert at Times Square earlier this week, but it turned out to be nothing.
E.g.: The army was put on (full) alert as the peace talks began to fail.
E.g.: The public were warned to be on the alert for (= watching carefully for) suspicious packages.
E.g.: An anonymous letter alerted police to the possibility of a terrorist attack at the airport.

Security (n): 1- protection of a person, building, organization, or country against threats. 2- the group of people responsible for protecting a building, person, or organization. 3- a feeling of being safe and stable.
E.g.: The tighter security measures include video cameras throughout the city center.
E.g.: The most dangerous criminals are held in maximum-security prisons (= prisons that are as difficult as possible to escape from).
E.g.: You’ll need to notify security if you want to work late in the office.
E.g.: The security guards stopped him at the door.
E.g.: Most children need the security of a stable family life.

Fraud (n): 1- the crime of getting money by deceiving people:
E.g.: She is suspected of committing fraud.
E.g.: The banks must tighten security against fraud.

Withdrawal (n): 1- the physical and mental effects experienced when a person stops using a drug.
E.g.: He experienced a lot withdrawal during his time in rehab.

Rehab (n): 1- the process of helping someone to stop taking drugs or alcohol or the place people go to do that.
E.g.: She’s just finished four months of rehab.
E.g.: After his arrest in 2011, he checked himself into rehab to get over his heroin addiction.

Goosebumps (n): 1- small raised areas that appear on the skin because of cold, fear, or excitement.
E.g.: You’re cold – look, you’ve got goosebumps!

Fertilization (n): 1- the process of joining male and female sexual cells to produce young.
E.g.: IVF = In-vitro Fertilization
E.g.: Bees are very important for the fertilization process of plants.
