Vocabulary

Key (n): 1- the moving parts that you press with your fingers on a computer keyboard, or musical instrument.
E.g.: Press and hold down the control key while you press ‘9’.
E.g.: There are 88 black and white keys on a piano.

Percussion (n): 1- musical instruments that you play by hitting them with your hand or an object such as a stick.
E.g.: Drums and pianos are both percussion instruments.
E.g.: Jean plays the guitar and her brother is on percussion (= plays percussion instruments).

Compare (v): 1- to consider that something is similar or of equal quality to something else.
E.g.: People compared her to her mother all the time!
E.g.: You can’t compare the two cities – they’re totally different.

Contrast (v): 1- If one thing contrasts with another, it is very different from it.
E.g.: The sweet vanilla ice cream contrasts very nicely with the sour lemon.

Vibrate (v): 1- to shake slightly and quickly, or to cause something to do this, in a way that is felt rather than seen or heard
E.g.: The train station vibrated as the train rushed through.
E.g.: His voice vibrated with anger.

Material (n): 1- something that is used to make something else.
E.g.: The materials used to make this table are wood and iron.
E.g.: I need to buy the materials to finish my school assignment.

Curve (n): 1- a line that bends continuously and has no straight parts. 2- 曲线
E.g.: There’s a curve on the road ahead.

Traditional (adj): 1- used for a long time in a certain place. 2- 传统
E.g.: The erhu is a traditional Chinese instrument.

Grammar

The horses have short feet. – The horses have short legs.
