Vocabulary

Colloquial (adj): 1- informal.
E.g.: People tend to use very colloquial language online.

Due (adj): 1-  expected to happen, arrive, etc. at a particular time:
E.g.: What time is the next bus due?
E.g.: The next meeting is due to be held in three months’ time.
E.g.: Their first baby is due in January.

Sketchy (adj): 1- not completely safe or not completely honest:
E.g.: I saw a sketchy guy walking toward me.
E.g.: They lived in a sketchy neighborhood.

Discrimination (n): 1- treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially in a worse way from the way in which you treat other people, because of their skin color, sex, sexuality, etc.
E.g.: We need to fight racial discrimination.
E.g.: There should be no discrimination on the grounds of color.

Discriminant  Function (n): 1- a function of a set of variables that is evaluated for samples of events or objects and used as an aid in discriminating between or classifying them.

Phobia (n): 1- a type of anxiety disorder (= a mental illness that makes someone very worried and affects their life) that involves an extreme fear of something.
E.g.: She refused the injection because she had a phobia about needles.
E.g.: He has no real desire to travel and suffers from a phobia of flying.
E.g.: For someone with social phobia, a conversation with a neighbor can cause great fear and anxiety.

Homophobia (n): 1- discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.
E.g.: He suffered a lot of homophobia when he was in school.
E.g.: The organization is trying to fight homophobia in China.

Claustrophobia (n): 1- 幽闭恐惧症
