In Shanghai most people live in high rise buildings.

Low rise Building – opposite of high rise

Re Built/ Re constructed – to make something new again.

The temple was reconstructed 30 years ago.

Demolish – destroy a building

the old houses in Shanghai were demolished

Expand – when something grows bigger

since 1995 the Shanghai Metro has expanded to 17 lines

Region –area in a city or in a country

Mortgage – loan from a bank to buy a house or apartment.

Stable increase – 

apartment prices in Shanghai have a had a stable increase recently.

in Shanghai there is a lot of competition in business.
