Vocabulary

Rapport – a relationship, especially a good one, that allows two people to work together well or understand what the other wants to do or means to say

Whole vs. All – focus on the group or on the individuals that make it up
e.g. All the apples have gone bad (no individual apple can be eaten)
e.g. The whole apple is bad (no part of this apple can be eaten)

Filter vs. Filter out – use “filter to describe what you’re cleaning or getting something from; use “filter out” to describe what you are taking out
e.g. We’re going to filter the water so that it’s safe to drink.
e.g. We’re going to filter out the good resumes from the pile.

Furthermore/Moreover vs. In addition
— All three can add new points to one thought.
— “In addition” can also add new thoughts.
e.g. Plan A has x. X is great. It also has y. Y is marvelous. Furthermore, it has z.
e.g. We have plan A, which is stupendous. In addition, we have backup plan B, is almost equally stupendous.

Pipeline – the development of people with skills you need; the process to develop a business plan, report, etc.
e.g. There are high schools which commonly as pipelines to get into elite institutions (these schools send many students to these institutions).
e.g. We have a new project in pipeline now. We hope to be able to present it to the shareholders in March.

Hi,
Here is an email that I want to convince my boss for my planning and the direction.

I modified all my recruiting direction. I can’t quantity those objectives now. I just know my goal is we can filter at least 60+ quality resumes for Spring audition which is already 2 times of our whole year recruiting numbers in 2018. If we do not have more brand exposure in these fields and have these partnerships, it’s impossible more talented people know what SPACE is even they consider SPACE could be their future career path.
