Vocabulary

Study Hard! – 好好学习

Monkey vs. Ape – 猴子 vs 猿子 – a monkey has a tail, and an ape does not
Orangutan – a big orange ape with a sort of round, flat face

Monkey around – to play and laugh and not work or study
Serious – to pay attention, to study, to work, to not laugh and play when something needs to get done 严肃

Stroll – to walk around without anything you have to do 逛

VIP – 贵宾

Raspberry – to make a funny sound with your tongue between your lips
e.g. Mr. Bean blew a raspberry at the angry cat.

Rip – to pull something into pieces
e.g. Mr. Bean ripped an advertisement out of the newspaper.

Advertisement – 广告

Would you believe it?! – can you believe this? – something bad has just happened and you can’t even believe it
e.g. Just as I walked outside, would you believe it, it started to rain!

Program – a small book that tells you what a show is about
e.g. Mr. Bean went to get a stack of programs to put on his chair so that he would be taller and be able to see.

Hypnotize – when you make someone fall asleep and remember or not remember something

Run away – to try to get far from something or someone; to run somewhere where people don’t know where you are
e.g. Our dog ran away, and now we have to find him!
e.g. Mr. Bean became a dog and ran away!

Chase – to run after something and try to catch it 追逐
e.g. As a dog, Mr. Bean started to chase the mean cat.

Neighbor – the person who lives next door (or nearby)
Neighborhood – the area around where you live

Fall in love – to find someone who you really, really like
e.g. Because Mr. Bean was hypnotized, when he smelled the flowers he thought he fell in love with the angry neighbor.

Squeak – when something makes a very high-pitched sound, like a mouse or a dog toy 高音调
Squeaker / Squeaky Toy – a dog toy that squeaks when you squeeze it

Squeeze – to close your hand around something 挤压
