Vocabulary

Uneven – when something is not flat or balanced

Impression – a shape left by something pushing against something else; after meeting someone, how you feel about them, how they make you feel

Things that were different – compared to Mainland

Dub – when you change the language that someone is speaking in a movie instead of writing subtitles 配音

Humidity – the water in the air
e.g. Hong Kong was much too humid, and it made me feel uncomfortable.
Stifling – when something is hot and humid so that you feel that it is difficult to breathe
e.g. Once you get to July or August in Hong Kong, the heat and humidity are absolutely stifling.

Swamp – an area that has a lot of water 沼泽
e.g. The area around Chicago used to be swamps. Now it is all houses.

— “Cable” is the big metal rope that holds the “cars” that you ride in. Anything that is like a small place for riding in might be called a car.

Last Friday is the dragon boat festival. I had 4 days off, so I went to Hongkong. This is my first time to HK. There are some different things which give me unexpected impression between HK and the mainland, such as temperature, language. The weather was so hot and the air indoor was so cold, the big temperature difference made me get cold. I like TVB series very much, so I didn’t think language is the obstacle. But when the local people spoke to me in Cantonese, I couldn’t understand what they say sometimes. This made me feel insecure.
