Vocabulary

Shift vs. Change vs. Move
— Shift is about movement in time or space
e.g. We shifted your meeting to the afternoon so that you can be on the conference call in the morning.
e.g. He had been sitting so long it had become uncomfortable, so he shifted his position (he’s sitting a different way, though probably not in a different place)
— Change is about making something different
e.g. He changed his position (now he moved somewhere else, or he’s lying down now instead of sitting)
e.g. “The times they are a-changing!”
— Move is about going somewhere else, totally new
e.g. I moved the couch to the living room.

Implementation vs. Execution vs. Action
— Implementation requires a plan.
e.g. We implemented the new rules from the Ministry of Commerce today.
— Execution is the way you do something, and its effectiveness.
e.g. His execution of the difficult piece was flawless.
— Action is just doing something.
e.g. We took action immediately once we heard the news.

Grammar

I will focus more on instructor auditions / auditioning
— These are both nouns, but the first refers to the event of having an audition. The second refers to the way you run auditions, or the process of planning for and executing them.

I just shifted my position from the management of teaching team and curriculum to the strategic branding in marketing department at SpaceCycle. As the scale of this brand is getting bigger and teaching team are always the core of the brand, I focus more on instructor audition and building up bigger talent pool. We not only look for candidates who are audition-ready but also potential candidates from the grassroots. I expect that the position of Space Instructor can be one of the career choice for young generation and Space become a platform that more talented people can join and develop their talents on performance, coaching and the love of movements and music, even inspire others with healthy and positive way in their daily life.

I had a very nice trip with my family during the golden week. My family flied from Taiwan and we gathered together in Japan. It’s been 5 years from our last family trip and we have more family members including my husband, brothers in law, and cute niece. It’s definitely not easy to make the trip happen. First of all, each members’ schedule have to be matched and are allowed to take leave during that period of time. Second, The powerful typhoon had slammed into Kansei area, disrupting land and air travel and leaving thousands stranded. We were very concerned that the trip has to be canceled. Fortunately, the typhoon was away before our visit.
It’s always good to have quality time with family especially at the trip. I think because I live in out of Taiwan and missed some family moments, and the truth is my parents are getting older, I really cherish these memories we owned together. Refill full of energy from this trip!
