Vocabulary
Earphones – small headphones that go inside your ear
e.g. With my cell phone, I usually use earphones.
Jackhammer – a tool used to break things like rock
e.g. Construction workers use jackhammers to destroy old roads so that they can build new ones.
Funnel – something used to bring air or liquid into a small space
Drum – a circular thing with a tight top that you can hit to make sounds
e.g. Every band has to have some drums.
Conclusion – when you tell your listener or reader again what you were talking about, remind them; like an introduction, but at the end
Compulsory – something you have to do
e.g. If sports is a compulsory subject, everyone has to take a sports class.
Grammar

Writing:
Each essay should have three parts:
Introduction, Body, Conclusion
The introduction and conclusion do very similar things. One explains what you will talk about, and the other what you just talked about.
The body gives more details about what you are talking about.
— In a persuasive essay you give your reasons for something (your homework is this one)
— In an expository essay, you explain something (the article “Can You Hear Me Now?” is this one)
Each part of the essay is also split into:
— Topic (Introduction)
— Explanation
— Conclusion
So, a full essay looks like this:
