VIP Class Notes (Nicholas)

Next Class Focus

I want to start exposing Zoe to more items connected to current American culture.

You need to work changing your tone/inflection, also the speed of your delivery. So not so much the content of waht you say, but how you say it.

Learning to pick up on subtle cues — these are nonverbal communication skills. So communicating with your eyes….you don’t have lots of expression, but we should find ways to make you more expressive in your speech, in your tone, in your eyes.

Let’s practice having 80/20 conversation = you speak only 20% of the time, you then ask really good questiosn to your friend and hope they speak 80% of the time. Practicing open-ended questions. = PEOPLE SKILLS

Vocabulary

addicted = can’t stop eating it or can’t stop doing it.

e.g. Many people if you smoke too many cigarettes, you will become addicted.

e.g. Teacher Nicholas is not addicted to cigarettes, he’s addicted to cheeseburgers.

extra = slang, for “over the top”, excessive, too much, the style is a little strange.

e.g. My wife’s clothing and her attitude are a little extra.

vibe = the feeling that something give you

e.g. When I saw Melanias bloody Christmas tree, it gave me a spooky/scary vibe.

e.g. I met Nicholas for the first time today, I didn’t like the vibe he gave me.

Justice towards animals must precede (to come before) peace among men.
