gesture (v):to use a gesture to express or emphasize something
做手势；用手势表示；用动作示意
E.g.: When he asked where the children were, she gestured vaguely in the direction of the beach.
他问她孩子们在哪里，她心不在焉地朝沙滩方向指了一下。
E.g.: He made no answer but walked on, gesturing for me to follow.
他没有回答而继续向前走，打了个手势让我跟上。

gesture (n):a movement of the hands, arms, or head, etc. to express an idea or feeling
手势；姿势；示意动作
E.g.: She made a rude gesture at the other driver.
她对另一个司机做了个粗鲁的手势。
E.g.: “All this is mine, ” she said with a sweeping arm gesture.

boutique hotel (n):a small, stylish and fashionable hotel that is not part of a chain (= group of hotels belonging to one company)

etiquette (n):the set of rules or customs that control accepted behavior in particular social groups or social situations
礼仪，礼节；规范，规矩
E.g.: Social etiquette dictates that men cannot sit while women are standing.
（社交）礼仪要求在女士站立时，男士不能入座。

commodity (n):a valuable quality
宝贵品质
E.g.: If you’re going into teaching, energy is a necessary commodity.
如果你要干教师这一行，必须要有充沛的精力。

punctual (adj):arriving, doing something, or happening at the expected, correct time; not late
准时的，守时的
E.g.: a punctual start to the meeting
准时开会
E.g.: He’s fairly punctual (= he usually arrives on time).
他通常非常准时。

discreet (Adj):careful not to cause embarrassment or attract too much attention, especially by keeping something secret:
E.g.: The family made discreet enquiries about his background.
E.g.: They are very good assistants, very discreet – they wouldn’t go talking to the press.

controversial (adj):有争议的
causing a lot of angry public discussion and disagreement
E.g.: a highly controversial topic

E.g.: a controversial plan to build a new road

diplomatic (adj):acting in a way that does not cause offense
讲究方法的，委婉的
E.g.: Ask him nicely – be diplomatic.
好好向他提出请求——要委婉一些。
