Vocabulary

dialect (n): 1-a form of a language that people speak in a particular part of a country, containing some different words and grammar, etc.方言,土语,地方话
E.g.: a regional dialect
地区方言
E.g.: The poem is written in northern dialect.
这首诗是用北方方言写成的。

sibling (n): 1-a brother or sister兄;弟;姐;妹
E.g.: I have four siblings: three brothers and a sister.
我有4个兄弟姐妹:3个兄弟,1个姐姐。
E.g.: There was great sibling rivalry (= competition) between Peter and his brother.
彼得和他的弟弟之间争斗得很厉害。

elder sister/brother/son/daughter- a sister/brother/son/daughter who is older than the other sister(s), brother(s), etc.姐姐/ 哥哥/ 大儿子/ 大女儿
E.g.: Karen has always felt overshadowed by her famous elder sister.
E.g.: After she was widowed, she shared a house with her elder brother

eldest (adj): 1-being the oldest of three or more people, especially within a family(尤指某一家庭中3个或3个以上的成员里)年龄最大的
E.g.: Her eldest child is 14.
她最大的孩子快14岁了。

turn 16, nine o’clock, etc.to become a particular age or time达到16岁/9点钟(等等)
E.g.: She turned 18 last year.
她去年满18岁。- in Chinese language she’ll be 19岁
E.g.: It’s just turned ten o’clock.

second name (n):the name that you share with other members of your family

first name (n):the name that was given to you when you were born and that comes before your family name名,名字
E.g.: It can be rude to call people by their first name if they are much older or more important than you.
对年长或级别高的人直呼其名是不礼貌的。
