Homework

Use some of the vocabulary from today in some writing. Choose a topic that lets you use the words we learned.

Vocabulary

contact lens/contacts (n):a small round curved piece of transparent plastic, worn on the surface of the eye to improve your sight

E.g.: I was really disappointed by the appetizer, but thankfully the main course was much more to my liking.
E.g.: I knew that if I didn’t complete the project to their liking, I would be in danger of losing my job.

subordinate (n): a person who has a less important position than you in an organization

E.g.: He left the routine checks to one of his subordinates.

get off (v): to leave work with permission, usually at the end of the day

bitter (adj): Someone who is bitter is angry and unhappy because they cannot forget bad things that happened in the past.

E.g.: I feel very bitter about my childhood and all that I went through.

E.g.: She’d suffered terribly over the years but it hadn’t made her bitter.

comfort zone (n): a situation in which you feel comfortable and in which your ability and determination are not being tested
