conjunction noun (CONNECTING WORD)
(written abbreviation conj)
a word such as ‘and‘, ‘but‘, ‘while‘, oralthough‘ that connects words, phrases, and clauses in a sentence

The conjunction “although” joins the two clauses in the sentence “He left, although I begged him not to.”
When you write a series of nouns or adjectives, such as ‘purple, green and blue’, you use a conjunction before the last one, instead of a comma.

Coordinating conjunctions-协调连词  for, and, nor, or, but, yet, so

yet (conj)(and) despite that; used to add something that seems surprising because of what you have just said
然而,尽管
E.g.: simple yet effective
简单而又高效
E.g.: He’s overweight and bald, (and) yet somehow, he’s attractive.
他肥胖且秃头,然而不知为何却很有魅力。

nor (conj): used before the second or last of a set of negative possibilities, usually after “neither”
也不(通常与 neither 连用)
E.g.: We can neither change nor improve it.
对此我们既无法改变,也无法加以改善。
E.g.: Strangely, neither Carlo nor Juan saw what happened.
奇怪的是,卡洛和胡安都没有看到发生了什么。
E.g.: Neither Lili nor Lisa could solve this problem
E.g.: Neither Lisa nor Linda could read nor write, they’re illiterate.

but (conj)used to introduce an added statement, usually something that is different from what you have said before

E.g.: The play’s good, but not that good – I’ve seen better.

E.g.: She’s not a painter but a writer (= she is a writer, not a painter).

or (conj): used to connect different possibilities
