manipulate (v):to control something or someone to your advantage, often unfairly or dishonestly
（常指以不正当手段）操纵，控制
E.g: Throughout her career she has very successfully manipulated the media.

E.g: The opposition leader accused government ministers of manipulating the statistics to suit themselves.
