motive (n):a reason for doing something动机；（行动的）缘由；目的
E.g.: I think you should examine/question their motives in offering to lend you the money.

penalty (n): a type of punishment, often involving paying money, that is given to you if you break an agreement or do not follow rules

E.g.: There was a penalty clause which said you had to pay half the cost if you cancelled your booking.

clause (n): a particular part of a written legal document, for example a law passed by Parliament or a contract (= an agreement)（法律文件的）条款，款项
E.g.: They have added/deleted/amended a clause in the contract which says the company can make people redundant for economic reasons.

payroll (n): a list of the people employed by a company showing how much each one earns（公司员工的）在职人员工资表，发薪员工表
