Vocabulary

rigid (adj): 1-stiff or fixed; not able to be bent or moved:
E.g.: a rigid steel and concrete structure
E.g.: I was rigid with (= stiff and unable to move because of) fear.

intrusive (adj): 1-affecting someone in a way that annoys them and makes them feel uncomfortable:
E.g.: intrusive questioning
E.g.: intrusive lighting
E.g.: Many people consider work related calls during weekends quite intrusive.

They’re doing/working overtime to get the job done on time.

Everyone is on overtime (= being paid extra for working after the usual time) this weekend.

headteacher/principal-someone who is in charge of a school
E..g: My mother was a headteacher/principal.

chore (n): 1-a job or piece of work that is often boring or unpleasant but needs to be done regularly:
E.g.: I’ll go shopping when I’ve done my chores (= done the jobs in or around the house).
E.g.: I find writing reports a real chore (= very boring).

errand (n): 差使1-a short journey either to take a message or to take or collect something:I’ll meet you at six,
E.g.: I’ve got some errands to do/run first.

block capitals/letters -a style of writing in which each letter of a word is written separately and clearly using the capital letters of the alphabet:
E.g.: Please print (meaning write) your name and address in block capitals.

cursive (adj): 草书1-Cursive writing is written with rounded letters that are joined together.

shorthand (n):速记 1-a system of fast writing that uses lines and simple signs to represent words and phrases:
E.g.: Their conversations were taken down in shorthand by a secretary.
