We were very close. Ellie’s business is related to JD. My business is related to T-mall. Although we’re competitors, we’re close. I decide to learn English because I have a embarrassing experience. When I have a monthly meeting I don’t know how to presentation in English. We have presentation with our German colleagues and our German boss. I think I can get a better performance because sometimes I know how to express my opinion in English.

In the local internet companies, I need to OT every day. You have no rest to thinking, to go to the gym. But, in this company I still have time to hang out, go to the gym etc.

The German colleagues they like to discuss with something very detailed, especially our product managers, their leader is come from German. When they come to me, I’m very nervous because they have a lot of questions. He asked me to explain what the content of the homepage, what we have done of e-commerce and so on.

Our PM leader, he ask me some questions not on the meeting. Then we went to an office. One time he wanted to know something about our JD platform. He need to know every part content and what kind of page show to the consumers. At the same time, he want to know something like the progress of the user online. It is easy for me to explain it, but when have a big meeting. I think if I have enough time to prepare it will better. But, so far a lot of paperworks, a lot of meetings, it spend a lot of time to deal with it. If have a meeting I’m afraid I have not enough time to prepare in a short time.

My company is a traditional German company and contract progress is very rigid and static. I need to spend too much time to get the signatures of different department. It made our communication cost much higher and pushed business projects inefficiently.

I am not very comfortable with such situation but it can’t be changed in a short time.
