3. gathering= 聚会
ex: let’s have a gathering tonight.

4. farewell party= 欢送会
ex: I will be leaving soon, so my colleagues arranged a farewell party for me.

5. roller coaster= 过山车 🎢
ex: I really like the roller coaster, it’s very exciting.

6. playground= 操场（school/park)

Yesterday, our department had a gathering. We went to GC Park at 10am, this time is famous for a flower, but after April, it didn’t have this. There isn’t have too many people. We cooked something, but not Chinese food, we did BBQ. We did BBQ from 10am to 1pm, it lasted 3 hours. Then we walked around the park, there are some children play in the amusement park. We just played some rides. Yesterday it was my first time to play sea rover. Before I was not afraid of it, but it’s really high. When we went down, my heart is very uncomfortable. We found out that one of our colleague really afraid of this, he is in the middle of the boat, but he can’t open his eyes, and we all laughed at him. We also met two little girls, they sat on another side of the boat, and they take photo of that colleague, and update the photo to TikTok/ WeChat. We took a joke that maybe he will be famous.

what do you do when you are homesick?
I will talk to my parents. The real thing I done is buy a ticket and go home. My hometown is HuangShan, and my university is in NJ, so it’s not far away between these two places. In that period,  5 hours is not a long time for me, but now only 2 hours I think it’s too long. I don’t know why I can endure the 5 hours before.

what do you do when you are homesick?
