You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult to work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college. In the letter,

•describe the situation
•explain your problems and why it is difficult to work
•say what kind of accommodation you would prefer

Vocabulary

1.life sentence=  go to jail for your life
ex: he got a life sentence because he killed too many people.

2. homicide= other kill you
suicide =you kill yourself
ex: last year, two Korean stars suicide because they were not happy.

3. freezer= 冰柜
ex: you need to put the ice-creams in the freezer.
ex: i have lots of chicken strips in the freezer.

4. defrost (verb)= 解冻
ex: I don’t need to defrost the chicken strips, I just put the whole bag in the microwave.
ex: I need to defrost the steak.

5. prime minister= 主席
president= 总统
vice- president.
ex: Mr Xi is the prime minister of China.
ex: Donald Trump is the president of America.

6. chairman= boss of the company
ex: the chairman can decide on the vision of the company, the CEO will execute the plan.

Speaking exercise

Let’s talk about your home town or village. •What kind of place is it? •What’s the most interesting part of your town/village? •What kind of jobs do the people in your town/village do? •Would you say it’s a good place to live? (Why?)
My hometown is ChangSha, it’s famous for its long/ancient history/historical buildings. Our prime minister now studied in ChangSha when he was young. Now it is famous for food, restaurants, milk tea store and broadcasts. The most interesting part of ChangSha is the restaurants. They’re all family owned restaurants. They look very simple and a little bit old fashioned, but the food taste is very good. People in ChangSha would work in the same company in the same position for a long time/ are more prone to having a stable job. The young people prefer working in the broadcasting company. I think it’s a good place to live, the cost of living is much lower than SH. Your income would support your living. you can even save up money.
Let’s move on to talk about accommodation.
•Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in?
I live in an apartment that’s about 30 square meter with a bathroom, a kitchen and a room. I have the basic facility like the air-conditioner, the television, the refrigerator. The price is very low, about 3000. The owner has three furnished apartment, so when I lived in the apartment, everything was new.
•How long have you lived there?
I have lived there for three years. Maybe I will move out this year.
•What do you like about living there?
It is ten minutes walking distance to the railway station, it’s only 30 minutes away from the office. The neighborhood is very quiet. The owner is very helpful, when something is broken, he can fix it for me.
•What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?
ex: I would like to live in an apartment that’s bigger than 30 square meter with lots of windows, I also want big bathroom. The apartment could be close to the park with a nice environment. I wish the apartment would be close to my office.
