1. mermaid= fish person
ex: Ariel is a mermaid with a green tail.

2. save—- saved= 救了
ex: I’m in the water! Save me !!!!
ex: I’m in the fire! Save me!!
ex: Ariel saved the prince.

3. prince- princess
ex: the prince is a young boy.
ex: The queen has a kind prince.
ex: Ariel is a princess in the ocean.

4. pleased= happy , 满意的
ex: I am very pleased with the room.
ex: I am very pleased with the shining rock.

5. voice= 声音🔊
ex: ssshhhh, please lower your voice!

6. paw= 掌
ex: the cat’s paws are pink.
ex: the bear has four big paws.

6. softly= 轻轻的
ex: please speak softly because the baby is sleeping.
ex: please walk softly because he is reading a book.

7. toward XX= 向XX
ex: walk toward your mom, and you will see a surprise!
ex: the man is running toward me, oh no !

A mother bear and two cubs lived in a big park. Many other animals lived there too. They could all go anywhere they want in this park. and no one ever hurt them. One day the mother bear took her cubs for a walk in the woods. She wanted to teach them who to find food. She went sniffing along the ground, with the cubs behind her. Now the then she would turn over an old log, so that the cubs could find bugs and worms to eat.

All at once the mother bear grunted to the cubs in her gruff voice. They both stopped and were very quiet. The mother bear stood up on her hind legs. My, how very tall she was, she was taller than a big man.

For a minute she kept very still. the she turned around and round, sniffing and sniffing as she turned. Mother bear smelled something very good. Her nose told her that there was a picnic not far away.
