VIP Class Notes (Li)

Today we focused on:

For part 2:

Dive straight into your response (avoid “I would like to say”) – One time I…/I did…

Ideal answer should be more than 1 min, less than 2

Make sure that you answer all the questions in the prompt

Include more transition words – however, in addition, as such etc.

Avoid repetition/filler words (like, uh, and)

When you finish your response, just stop speaking and the examiner will get the point

For part 3:

Try to slow down when you speak to buy more time for your brain

Avoid trying to reword/rephrase your answers 2-3 times in the response

Make sure that you convey your points clearly

You don’t have to say too much if you run out of ideas for each question

Grammar

to plan some free time – to plan beforehand

when something jumps up – when something unexpected happens/ when something pops up

I would like to say SH as I born and lived here. SH is a multicultural and international city as there are a lot of skyscrapers. People come here to work and travel. SH is a city with not only skyscrapers but there is also like different vibe to the city, not only has the aspect of being modern and really developed. When you go to WK road, …there are a lot of phoenix trees along the road. You are able to feel the calmness and relaxing feeling when you take a stroll along the road. The reason why I like SH, not only the modern part of the city but there is also the memorable moments of my whole life.

I would like to say about a really bad experience at a restaurant which is a total waste of my time. I went to a restaurant which is in Pudong, Shanghai. I go to that restaurant with my friends in Shanghai. Me and my friends have a long time which we did not meet each other and we were so excited and cannot control ourself in the restaurant. As I remembered there was not a lot of customers in that restaurant and we were not really influencing others. However, the owner came to use in a really not polite way and telling us to lower our volume. In our opinion, we are here to consume, to experience your service. Maybe we have to lower our volume but you should not yell at your customers. We also apologised to other customers.
