Today we focused on:

Reading “Mr Klutz is Nuts” 9-12

Vocabulary

pledge of allegiance – what kids say to promise to be loyal to the US at the start of school

ex. All the students recited to the pledge of allegiance with Mr Klutz.

essay – a piece of writing on a subject

incentive – reward

ex. Mr Klutz promised the students incentives for doing 1 million maths problems.

accomplishment – something that has been done successfully

ex. The kids at AJ’s school had a chocolate party to celebrate their accomplishment.

correct – opposite of wrong

ex. Good job Richard! You got everything correct.

psychologist – a person who studies the human mind, behaviour or emotions 心理师

sob – cry

ex. The toddler sobbed as her mother was leaving the room.

make a deal – to agree to do something

ex. The kids and Mr Klutz made a deal so that he won’t have to jump off the roof.

guilty – to feel bad about something that you have done

ex. The students will feel guilty if Mr Klutz jumps off the building.

Speaking exercise

He climb to the flag pole and he fall hanging on the pole.

He climbs on the flag pole, and then he ends up hanging on the pole.
