Reading “Mr Klutz is Nuts” Chp. 1-3

Vocabulary

nuts – silly, strange or stupid

ex. You must be nuts to be swimming in the river during winter.

build up speed – to move faster and faster

kneepads/elbow pads – what you wear to protect your knees and elbows if you skate

overrate – to think something is much better than it really is

ex. AJ says that teachers overrate studying.

torture – to make someone/something feel pain and discomfort

ex. AJ heard that the principal tortures bad students.

upside down – when the part that is usually at the top end up at the bottom (when a person hangs upside down)

ex. I don’t like rollercoasters because if the machine breaks, I’ll hang upside down.

motivation – wanting to do something

ex. She doesn’t want to tidy her room because she doesn’t have any motivation.

pal – friend

ex. Mr Klutz says that AJ is his pal.

3rd person simple present tense

But if he want to go into university he must pass the test. If he don’t like it then he can’t pass the test and go into university to play hockey.
