Grammar

-ing present tense

Uses: 

-sth is happening now/at the time of speaking

-habits (often/always)

-things that are taking place over a period (must still be happening at the time of speaking)

-ing past tense

Uses: 

-things that took place in the past over a period of time (I was reading this book for 2 weeks)

-interrupted actions (My mother was cooking when the phone rang)

-descriptions of the past (What were you doing at 3pm yesterday?)

is/are – singular/plural 

ex. There is a man sitting on the chair.
