Vocabulary

inmate – a prisoner

ex. This prison houses 2000 inmates.

incarcerate – to be imprisoned/locked up at a place

ex. He’s been incarcerated since he was 17.

ex. Tony gets incarcerated in his room if he makes his mother angry.

litter box – cat toilet

euthanise/to be put down – put an animal to death 安乐死

ex. These cats will be euthanised if nobody adopts them.

foster – to bring up a child/animal who/which is not your own

ex. He has been fostering cats for many years.

empathy – to be able to share someone’s feelings or experiences by imagining yourself in that situation 同理心

ex. Empathy is not something that can be taught easily.

rambunctious – full of energy and difficult to control 精力过剩的；难以控制的

ex. Having a rambunctious toddler drains your energy.

ex. My friend’s cats are too rambunctious that she fears that they will tear her house down.
