Vocabulary

Familiar: having some knowledge about (something)

frequently seen, heard or experienced

eg. Are you familiar with this topic?

eg. This story sounds very familiar.

Grammar

Progressive/continuous tenses  – used to describe continuing action or an action in progress

example: I am walking at the park (continuing action)

He is working on a project at school school (action in progress)

Watch out for time words (signals): yesterday, tomorrow, now, last week, in 2020 etc.

Past progressive:

was/were + present participle (add ing to the verb)

eg. I was reading.

eg. I was playing games when he arrived.

Present progressive:

am/is/are + present participle

eg. Sarah is watching television.

eg. We are planning the sports competition

Future progressive:

will be + present participle

eg. I will be doing my homework tomorrow afternoon.

eg. They will be leaving the house soon.

Conjunctions: linking or joining words

examples: and, but, so, yet, for, because, while, although etc.

eg. I love to go outside but due the the rain, I will be staying at home.

eg. She couldn’t come to the meeting today so I had to postpone it.

eg. My friend and I don’t like apples.
